Jenny Seagrove in A Shocking Accident

Remember when Jenny Seagrove was involved with an Oscar-winning project? Well, in 1982 she and Rupert Everett co-starred in a short film called A Shocking Accident, based on a story by Graham Greene. It is an often overlooked part of Jenny Seagrove's career and, even though it won an Oscar (and was apparently nominated for a BAFTA award) and is supposedly available on VHS and DVD, I'm not sure how widely seen A Shocking Accident is (I haven't had the pleasure of viewing it...yet).

Though the newspaper article below claims to explain how A Shocking Accident won an Oscar for best live action short film, I didn't really get a satisfactory answer after reading it. It's an interesting article nonetheless and gives some nice background information on the project.

Here's a great newspaper article about actress Jenny Seagrove from 1992. In this piece, Jenny Seagrove talks frankly about her career and love life. At this point she was still in a relationship with director Michael Winner and this is discussed quite a bit. As you might know, 1992 was the year that Jenny Seagrove transitioned back into stage work after doing film and television steadily for a decade. It is mentioned in the article that she is doing a stage play in Wales at the time of publication and that her second Sherlock Holmes project would be released shortly. I'm not sure if it is mentioned outright that she would be giving up movies and TV indefinitely at this point (she wouldn't do another film until 1999).

Jenny Seagrove gets married...and divorced

In 1984, Jenny Seagrove got married to actor Madhav Sharma. Four years later they were divorced. The divorce received quite a bit of press attention in the UK and, when the divorce was finalized, the international press picked up the story. Apparently, the marriage was not a happy one.

This article appeared in an American newspaper on December 8, 1984 and discusses two subjects: Jenny Seagrove and English roses. During the course of the article, Jenny Seagrove talks about what an English rose is and how she plays them in TV miniseries. The author of the piece also indicates that Jenny Seagrove is an English rose herself!
